Manners

The ladies behind the counter in Starbucks are supremely happy this morning. They greet each customer with a big smile and enough friendly, good humour to melt even the most resolute London froideur. Their banter is infectious; the customers respond warmly and although the queue grows, there is no tutting to be heard. There’s a lot to be said for courtesy.

Good humour goes a long way. Especially when standing in line.

I paid for some of my college tuition working at Starbucks. I make a mean Frapuccino.

Starbucks...........I only wish the "baristas" here in both states I regularly visit would HURRY THE F UP-meaning, take the orders faster AND then move the dope along who lingers at the midget sized counter who feels the need to stand there waiting for their drink while the rest of the line has to talk over them to place an order; something I refuse to do-I make them move first.

I am pretty grouchy.

I do love England for this very reason. I stopped at a petrol station once to ask directions. The attendant said "thank you very much indeed" for giving him the opportunity to help me.

I dearly love England and Italy...

but what the fuck is wrong with France and Germany?

As noted at my blog, standing 'in' line rather than 'on' line evokes many things, evocatively speaking, in the vocative, that is.

I was a SB person, and I had great fun talking to everyone that came in. My store was happy, so was I. I miss it, but I am on to bigger better things.
